Golden Globe Transport, leveraging 20 years of international air and ocean transportation, customs brokerage and logistics experience, announced today it has inaugurated domestic freight forwarding throughout it's United States operating network. This new subsidiary is called eCargo-USA.The expansion marks a major milestone as Golden Globe for the first time will operate a dedicated program for customer freight shipments moving exclusively between points within the United States. The initiative enhances Golden Globe’s capabilities as a single-source provider of integrated logistics and supply chain management solutions, noted Peter Gaan, Golden Globe’s President and CEO. "For 20 years we have been recognized as an international transportation leader," noted Gaan. "With our expansion into domestic U.S. service, we provide another asset that our customers can utilize to further simplify and streamline their logistics requirements." eCargo-USA provides door-to-door time-certain transportation for commercial air freight shipments within the United States. Three levels of service are provided for business-to-business customers: next business day with delivery by 5 p.m.; second business day with delivery by 5 p.m.; and economy deferred, with delivery on the 3rd or 4th business day following pickup. The service is designed to bring convenience and simplicity to Golden Globe’s clients, who can now benefit from a single carrier for pickup, transit and delivery of their shipments, regardless of destination. "Our customers continually seek ways to improve supply chain efficiency, to gain the most leverage from their transportation and logistics spend." "For some time they have asked us for a domestic option. We are already handling shipments between domestic locations at the beginning or end of an international movement. The infrastructure is already in place. We’ve formalized the process and created a dedicated service product." Golden Globe’s improvements to its operating systems now enable it to manage domestic forwarding services on the same computing platform, with full visibility and tracking via the Internet. Gaan emphasized that the domestic expansion complemented and strengthened Golden Globe’s capabilities and overall product mix. "This initiative will help us gain market share by generating new revenues from a very compatible service. It’s a logical extension of our core business," he noted. "For our customers, we move closer to the single source solution that can provide the best economies of scale and service performance to support their demand chain – either domestic or overseas." Gaan said customer feedback has been positive since the program began testing in July. "The reaction has been encouraging," he noted. "This initiative responds to customer trends toward consolidation of transportation and logistics services among a core group of providers." He added that Golden Globe already has the most difficult component in place – an extensive global network with experience in the cultures and local business practices of over 100 countries. "Acquiring or building an international network, and the customs expertise and capabilities necessary to move goods quickly and efficiently in a multi-continent supply chain, is a huge task. Much of the transportation process management experience we already have translates well to this new market for domestic freight."
